  • Wednesday, 18 January
All classes are cancelled today due to hazardous weather conditions.

This pushes back a bunch of things, but I'm not going to try to do an on-line phonetics class.  I ask that you visit a page on the Seeing Speech website on line and play with it.  In particular, use it to see the differences among different places and manners of articulation for consonants.

I have updated the class calendar (and changed deadlines on some of the homework assignments).  Take a look at the updated calendar.

I've added a class recordings page to the website which links to Panopto recordings of the class sessions.  Click on the link on the Navigation bar on the left side of the page.

  • Welcome
Welcome to the website for English 256: Introduction to Linguistics.  This is a website for students at Washington State University who are enrolled in English 256 during Spring 2017.  Others are also welcome, but this site is a required part of English 256.

To get an idea of what this class will be like, check out the 2016 website for the same course at https://sites.google.com/site/english256spring2016/.
